People understand that going to the gym and eating healthy brings good physical health, but what are you doing to train your brain? “The more you learn, the more you earn” isn’t just an old adage – it’s the easiest way to get educated by experts in any field you desire to know more about, for little or no cost. In fact, the world’s most successful people know this to be true.

If you want to learn more about anything that’s a recurring blindspot in your business, from marketing to business administration, or personal development skills such as leadership and time management, undoubtedly, someone has written about it in depth. Having the knowledge will build your awareness, shed light on your blindspots, and allow you to take actions within your business that you, otherwise, wouldn’t have the foresight to take.

Reading isn’t something that’s inherent to everyone, and the life of an entrepreneur is a busy one. But here are some super life hacks you can do to buy more time in your day, and improve your earnings as a result.

wake up earlier

1. Wake up early and begin the day with a book

Getting up early isn’t for everyone, but routine builds habit. If you’re the kind of person who never seems to have enough hours in the day, consider changing your morning routine to allow for extra reading time. One of my favorite speakers, the legendary leadership and performance expert, and author of The 5AM Club, Robin Sharma, says, “Winning starts at your beginning. And your first hours are where the great heroes are made. Own your mornings and you’ll master your life.”

Everyone loves sleeping in from time to time, but if you’re used to getting up at 7:00, try waking up 6:30 tomorrow, and then 6:00 the next day. Use that extra hour to exercise your brain. Go to your favorite spot in the house, get your coffee, and crack open a book. Not only will it allow you to expand your knowledge, the ritual will give you a sense of accomplishment before work even begins.

turn your car into a mobile library

2. Turn your car into a mobile library

Cars are expensive, depreciating assets. For many entrepreneurs and commuters, it’s also a place you spend a lot of time every day. Instead of cranking up the music, download Audible to your phone and stream an audiobook through your car speakers.

Audible is one of my favorite subscription services, because it allows you to take your entire library with you. You can focus on the road while someone else reads to you. It also has a more simple “car mode” interface with big buttons for easy visibility in the instance that you have to hit pause. And the best part is, you can stream multiple books in the same app, and it always remembers where you left off so that you can resume at any time.

netflix and chill less

3. Netflix and chill… a little less

There’s nothing better than falling into a recliner at the end of a long day. I get it – it’s valuable family time, and it’s your chance to kick back and rest. But when the kids have practice, or homework to do, take that time to rest and read. Even two days per week is a great start. Not only are you increasing your knowledge in order to provide a better life for your family, you’re also setting a good example for the kids.

Good entrepreneurs own their craft. Great entrepreneurs don’t stop there. They seek enlightenment, understanding, and improvement in all areas of life. Don’t become mentally chubby by letting your mind become idle, or worse, by consuming junk content.
